As a senior leader in IT Organization Management, you’ll take a macro view of technology and innovation across the firm to develop solutions that have an everyday impact on customers, clients and businesses around the globe. This role requires a variety of strengths and capabilities, including:

BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
Expertise in Resource Management; Technological, Organizational and/or Operational Change Management; Portfolio Management; Conflict Resolution; Negotiation; Budget/Financial Management, including Business Case Completion; Controls; and Partnership and Influence
In-depth knowledge of at least one technology discipline (e.g., software delivery, infrastructure management)
Ability to build an innovative culture
Strategic planning (e.g., roadmap creation and execution)
Experience in large-scale software development in one or more programming language

The ideal candidate will have industry experience working on a range of classification and optimization problems like payment fraud, click-through rate prediction, click-fraud detection, search ranking, text/sentiment classification, collaborative filtering/recommendation, or spam detection. The position will involve taking these skills and applying them to some of the most exciting and massive social data and prediction problems that exist on the web.

Software Engineer (Technical Leadership) – Machine Learning Responsibilities:

Drive the team’s goals & technical direction to pursue opportunities that make your larger organization more efficient.
Effectively communicate complex features & systems in detail.
Understand industry & company-wide trends to help assess & develop new technologies.
Partner & collaborate with organization leaders to help improve the level of performance of the team & organization.
Identify new opportunities for the larger organization & influence the appropriate people for staffing/prioritizing these new ideas.
Suggest, collect and synthesize requirements and create an effective feature roadmap.
Develop highly scalable classifiers and tools leveraging machine learning, data regression, and rules-based models.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience leading projects with industry-wide impact.
Experience communicating and working across functions to drive solutions.
Experience in mentoring/influencing senior engineers across organizations.
Proven track record of planning multi-year roadmap in which short-term projects ladder to the long-term vision.
Experience in driving large cross-functional/industry-wide engineering efforts.
12+ years of experience in programming languages (Python, C++, Java or R) with technical background.
8+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas: machine learning, recommendation systems, pattern recognition, NLP, data mining or artificial intelligence.

The Role

Who You Are

You are a strong backend engineer with architectural experience. You are customer-focused and enjoy collaborating with a small team of world-class engineers to solve complex problems at scale.

At least 5 years of experience in backend engineering with Python
Have deployed Flask and SQLAlchemy apps
Have deployed or are familiar with Django
Have deployed or are familiar with GraphQL
Familiar with MySQL and/or PostgreSQL
Enjoy test-driven or test-first development
Sustained track record of creating improvements in business-critical systems around stability, performance, and scalability
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Strong work ethic, integrity, and desire to succeed
Adaptable to new initiatives
Have worked in a start-up or high-growth company
A plus if you have experience leading and mentoring engineers or have had a favorable experience with an engineering mentor

What You’ll Do

Play a critical role in maintaining and developing Apploi’s API and microservice architecture
Work closely with a product manager and engineering manager to design, scope, and build features for our users
Consistently write production-ready code that is easily testable, easily understood by other developers, and accounts for edge cases and errors
Approach all engineering work with a security lens. Actively looks for security vulnerabilities both in the code and when providing peer reviews.
Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack with an eye towards improving maintainability over the long term
Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
Align with product managers, engineering mangers, and the VP of Engineering on priorities
