Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Materiel Operations the Manager Aerospace Warehouse Operations will oversee the efficient receipt, inspection, storage, retrieval, issue, shipping and delivery of aerospace parts, components, test equipment and consumable hardware. He/she will be responsible for managing the warehouse staff, processes and systems with the goal to promote high productivity (through lean warehousing) with the intent to meet or exceed quality standards, performance metrics and annual budget targets. The Manager Aerospace Warehouse Operations shall also ensure workplace health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the security of the warehouse facilities, equipment and stock. The manager shall also ensure all customer issues are handled effectively and in a timely manner. He/she will work directly with others to identify and demonstrate ways to improve individual performance as a mentor and a leader. The Manager Aerospace Warehouse Operations is directly responsible for attaining and sustaining performance metrics.

The Manager, Warehouse will report to the IMP Aerospace and Defence location near the Halifax International Airport.

What You Will Do:

Recruiting, hiring, training, supervision and terminating of staff;
Monitoring and evaluating the performance and progress of staff and taking administrative action to correct poor performance or workplace behavior in accordance with company directives;
Motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity and performance targets are met in the areas of inventory accuracy, order fulfillment and receipt/returns processing;
Manage tools cribs for the effective distribution of tools and parts and their proper return;
Communicating with on-site customer representatives;
Plan, develop, and implement warehouse quality, health and safety, physical security and environmental programs and activities;
Coordinating the optimum use of computerized inventory control systems, materiel handling equipment and semi-automated storage aids;
Responding to and dealing with client and customer communication by email, fax and telephone;
Keeping stock/inventory control systems up to date and accurate;
Manage accurate stock taking / counting activities, ensuring timely completion of this scheduled activity.
Producing regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly and monthly basis and briefing warehouse staff on performance statistics on a daily basis;
Visiting end-user customers to monitor the quality of service they are receiving;
Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene, environmental stewardship and security in the work environment by ensuring appropriate training is provided and operating procedures are adhered to;
Managing company owned and customer supplied assets to include the overseeing the planned maintenance of vehicles, machinery and equipment
Manage all company ground support equipment (GSE) and it proper storage and distribution;
Work planning, assigning and directing – plan and organize the daily activities of the supervised warehouse staff to include the scheduling of overtime;
Coordinating the training and orientation of new staff on material handling equipment, health & safety, environmental and warehouse operating procedures;
Set/achieve performance targets (metrics), holding staff accountable for meeting the performance targets and work with other Material department Staff in achieving their KPI’s;
Institute and practice lean warehousing techniques to eliminate waste;
Act as a focal point for program materiel warehousing matters with client and customer on-site personnel;
Ensure manpower is equitably distributed to meet needs dictated by workload;
Ensure that the company operated warehouses are properly maintained with respect to cleanliness, packaging, location, identification, labeling, segregation, security and safe working conditions;
Attend program meetings; and
Other duties as assigned

What You Will Bring:

Grade twelve diploma (undergraduate degree preferred) and at least ten years experience (with a minimum of 5 yrs managerial experience) in Aerospace Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) and related fields, or a suitable combination of education, training, civil/military experience and a solid record of achievement.
Logistics and SCM experience must include the management or supervision of shipping, receiving, picking, security, inventory control, quality control, safety and all other supply chain service requirements to include computerized and automated inventory control systems.
Ability to motivate others, delegate work and explain ideas in both written and oral form.
Ability to interface with suppliers and customer management.
Ability to problem-solve and resolve customer issues in a timely and responsive manner.
Understanding of performance-based working environments and financial/budget monitoring and reporting.
Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical and computer skills are a must.
Must have a strong logistical and customer service background.
Must be familiar with MS Office Products (Excel, and Outlook, Microsoft office) and Warehouse/Inventory Management Systems.
Must be able to manage and support multiple tasks on a consistent basis, while providing the highest level of customer service.
Must have the ability to organize, schedule and plan daily activities while supporting staff with technical warehouse operations knowledge.
Must have the ability to read and interpret statistical data relating to the effective and efficient analysis of the operation.

About This Opportunity

The Warehouse Supervisor with focus on IPT (Inter-Plant Transportation and Inventory Support) Warehouse is responsible for the management of IPT forklift drivers, IPT Shipper & Receiver and on occasion off-shift Combo Centre employees. They ensure the products are properly received, stored, and assist in posting during inventory counts. The Supervisor works as a coach and mentor to their team. Responsibilities

Supervising a team of 20 IPT forklift drivers and IPT Shipper & Receiver, while respecting budgetary constraints
Maintaining a safe work environment to enforce health and safety policies and regulations in the workplace
Staff, train, coach, evaluate and develop team members
Hold team members accountable to RF scanning compliance for improved traceability
Understanding and overseeing BluJay dock scheduling software and communicate when issues with scheduled appointments occur
Overseeing the storage, as well as the shipping and receiving of goods
Allocate necessary space for stock rotation and removal of aged product as directed by inventory
Assist and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss control.
Assist in inventory counts by posting results and communication with Inventory Team
Manage and audit team member’s timekeeping ensuring loads get out on time to BluJay
Complete safety and food safety auditing in compliance with ISO certifications.
Manage IPT labor and communicate with warehouse when backfill is required

Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a related field or experience deemed equivalent
3-5 years warehouse/inventory experience required. Beverage industry is preferred.
2+ years supervisory experience required. Supervisory experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
Ability to make sound decisions and recommendations based on analytical evaluations
Ability to provide leadership, motivation, and training for development of the team
Ability to cultivate, manage and foster a diverse team of employees
Ability to initiate activities and perform duties without direct supervision

Oracle “Super User”. Be main contact for Oracle support as it relates to inventory transactions, materials support, and consignment/ Expense items updates.
Coordinate and process all nonconforming (NCR) raw material issues and related RMAs.
Support all Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 3 years electronics manufacturing background in a supervisory role
Post Secondary Degree/Diploma in Business or related discipline (Materials Management certification is a definite asset)

Who are we searching for?

We are looking for a Warehouse and Inventory Manager to join our busy and growing team!

Job Duties (include, but not limited to):

Submits all daily, weekly and monthly reports, analyzing results and investigating any discrepancies and reporting to the Operations Manager
Ensure that warehouse staff are always wearing appropriate PPE and following company safety protocol
Maintain a clean, organized and safe environment for all staff
Report any and all equipment damage, malfunctions or safety hazards
Ensure daily housekeeping standards are met, and fully optimizes and utilizes current warehouse footprint
Ensure that adequate PPE and consumables are readily available, and supplies are well stocked
Ensure staff adhere to work schedule, metrics and assignments
Accurate and up to date inventory levels for raw material and finished goods
Ensures customer waste is accurately inventoried and stored
Ensure all assigned tasks are completed and done correctly
Other duties as assigned

Responsibilities:

Reviews, researches and resolves customer complaints
Utilize root cause analysis tools and determine sustaining actions for all customer complaints and non-conformances
Acts as the Transportation of Dangerous Goods’ champion and expert
Assists customers in warehouse practices and inventory counts
Plans and supervises manpower of warehouse
Responsible for meetings departmental KPIs and targets, and understand area losses
Ensures the safe, cost-efficient functioning of the logistics department, shipping and receiving departments
Ensures accuracy and completion of cycle counts for all inventoried items, and investigation for discrepancies using root cause analysis; ensure stock record accuracy for both finished goods and packaging components
Checks manpower schedules and operations, alters as required
Monitors and controls inventory items
Trains staff on handling and storage of products and inventory
Reviews inventory and investigates discrepancies
Matching BOL to physical shipment
Maintain a clean, organized warehouse by implementing daily housekeeping habits
Ensure FIFO standards are being used
Supports and participates in Continuous Improvement activities

Required Knowledge/Experience

Valid driver’s license
Post Secondary Degree (degree in logistics will be given preference) or 3 years equivalent experience required
Strong knowledge of workplace safety and acts as a Safety Change Agent
Detail, organizational and accuracy oriented
Ability to multitask
Be able to work in a team environment that is constantly working towards improving its processes and procedures
Continuous Improvement experience and mindset

Work Conditions:

Various indoor and outdoor weather conditions
Ability to lift 50 lbs
Manual dexterity
Interact with management and colleagues
Overtime as required.
