To support us on our journey, the Support Services department is looking for a Housekeeping Attendant to join its team at the Mount Sinai Hospital Site.
The Housekeeping Attendant performs a variety of housekeeping duties to maintain the public areas of the hospital.
Housekeeping duties include, but are not limited to the dusting, sweeping, mopping and buffing of floors, garbage collection, cleaning of washrooms, monitoring and restocking inventory in public areas and clinics, operation of housekeeping equipment and the replacement of other work assignments as required. Assists with other duties related to this position as required.
Job Requirements
Successful completion of high school diploma
Experience with and proven ability to operate an automatic scrubbing machine, wash walls, buff and burnish floors with appropriate equipment, strip and wax floors using necessary equipment and chemicals
Ability to meet the physical demands of the position in order to perform the essential duties of the job which requires standing, bending and lifting for extended periods of time
Must be able to adapt to a fast paced, constantly changing environment
Demonstrated ability to communicate and read using English, to effectively perform essential requirements of this position
Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Duties:
Cleans and maintains the Centre and grounds as per safety and health regulations.
Assists in teaching clients how to use the equipment and cleaning products such as washer/dryer, cleaning products, such as washer and dryer, sweep, mop, cleaning products washrooms and bathing facilities.
Sweeps and washes floors in the hallway, offices, dining area, stairs ways, basement, outside balconies, front entrance etc.
Clean and disinfects windows, glass, metal surfaces, appliances, steam table, refrigerator, dryers, washing machines, ashtrays, garbage dispensers, washroom and shower facilities.
Cleans and disinfects all rooms, offices, classroom and their fixtures.
Assist on the preparation of rooms for new arrivals.
Cleans and disinfects kitchen, countertops, serving areas, dining room after every meal and snacks.
Assists the cooks in the preparation of food, keep stock for the serving area up to date and refill sugar, rice and utensil containers.
Assists the kitchen staff with preparing beverages, serving meals and snacks, preparing the dining area and cleaning after each meal.
Assist the kitchen staff on placing delivery items away.
Prepares hot and cold beverages, heats and serve each meal.
Prepares and Cleans up after each meal and snacks.
Empties and dispenses garbage in offices, rooms, kitchen/dining room, washrooms in appropriate disposal units.
Maintain front yard clean, sweep and wash front yard, organize, garbage bins, wash them and place them back on garbage day and keep waste area nice and tidy.
Enforce house rules and teaches and assists the residents how to use facility equipment; microwave, toaster, hot water tower, washer/dryer machine, how to use toilets, showers and cleaning products.
Replaces and replenishes soap containers, light bulbs, mattress covers and notifies the center Manager of any needed repairs.
Carries cleaning supplies, linens, mattresses and equipment weighing up to 50lbs.
Performs other duties as required: answers telephones, sets up rooms; rearranges furniture; distribute donations, etc.
Qualifications:
A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in housekeeping in large residential institutions.
Must have a WHMIS certificate.
Must be able to carry 50lbs.
Must have a Safe Food handling Certificate
Sensitivity and awareness of working with refugee population.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to speak one of the following languages is an asset: Dari, Farsi, Arabic, Spanish, Amharic, French, Russian, Somali, Tagalog and Tigrinya.
Required to provide a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) Police check. The VSS must have been completed within past 6 months.
Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Duties and Responsibilities

Job Description
As a valuable member of the Guest Services-Housekeeping team, you are responsible for the delivery of championship services team. Under the direction of the Supervisor, you help to ensure that Scotiabank Arena’s high level of cleanliness is maintained at all times.
Perform a variety of housekeeping tasks along with special projects and heavy-duty cleaning to ensure the cleanliness of the Scotiabank Arena.
Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment responding to calls for spills, maintaining washrooms, emptying garbage’s etc. during the events.
Efficiently clean washrooms, suites, offices and public areas meeting MLSE standards.
Cleaning that will involve exposure to cleaning chemical solutions, hazardous materials and bodily fluids
Communicates positively and professionally with our fans, internal teams and co-workers
Work effectively under pressure and produce accurate results in a fast-paced, noisy and crowded environment
Report building and equipment maintenance issues to supervisor.
Work inside or outside the exterior of the Scotiabank Arena.
Adhere to MLSE service standards and policies including Health & Safety.
Perform all other duties as the need arises.
Qualifications
Must be available to overnights, weekend, weekdays and holiday shifts as required
1- 2 years housekeeping/cleaning experience in commercial environment (hotels, schools, hospitals, etc.) preferred
Ability to perform repetitive activities such as lifting (up to 50lbs), reaching, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, walking, answering radio calls
Follow oral and written instructions, and communicate effectively with others
Ability to organize, prioritize and multitask to meet deadlines
Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur.
Previous experience with floor care machines and general cleaning equipment an asset
Ability to work independently or within a group without direct supervision
Excellent attendance, attention to detail, punctuality and work record required
Willingness to be an integral part of an organization possessing a positive, can-do attitude
Must be able to lift 30 lbs from floor to waist, stand for up to 8 hours and climb stairs as required
Full time hours are available during the guarantee period as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement
Outside of the Guarantee Period, hours and assignments may vary
