What You’ll Do

As the Bulk Truck Operator, you will deliver bulk explosives to the blast hole using advanced delivery systems. You will be responsible for receiving regular restocking of products from the company plant, into storage vessels located at job site. Other duties will include:

Communicate daily with Dyno Nobel Blast Crew to ensure that everyone understands what is required to do the job safely and efficiently.
Ensure that any equipment to be used is in good operating condition.
Deliver bulk explosives to the blast hole using advanced delivery systems mounted on a 13 MT bulk delivery truck.
Receive regular restocking of products from the company plant, into storage vessels located at job site.
Ensure that all regulations, both federally (TDG, Explosives Act, Bulk Regulations, WHIMIS) and provincially (Blasting Safety and OH&S Regulations) are adhered to within the operation in regards to personnel workings, product storage, and product transportation.
Ensure the proper quantities are made available for each delivery.
Ensure the quality of products delivered through regular calibrations and sampling of products delivered at the job site.
A mechanically inclined individual capable of performing minor repairs to truck and operating equipment.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory of all products (explosive and non explosive).
Ensuring that company policies, safe work practices, hazard analysis, and standard operating procedures are followed and participate in regular reviews of these processes.
Periodically perform some blast site duties under the supervision of the blaster.

What We’re Looking For:

Completion of high school (Grade 12) preferred
Previous experience in the blasting or mining industry preferred, but not required.
Mechanical inclination with an interest to learn routine maintenance tasks around shop and on mobile equipment
Basic computer skills and an ability to communicate effectively
A positive professional and courteous attitude is an asset when dealing with co-workers and customers on a daily basis.
Good physical condition is required with the potential of lifting up to 25 kilograms.
A class 3 or higher driver’s license required
Fluency in spoken and written English is a requirement. Ability to speak and write in French would be an asset.

Full Job Description

Front-End Drivers operate front-end trucks that provide services to a variety of multi-family residential and commercial routes removing and transporting waste or recyclables in fulfillment of customer contracts. This position will service multiple customers per day according to assigned routes. The waste will then need to be transferred to the appropriate station, landfill or drop-off location.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive commercial frontload or ancillary equipment along designated routes to mechanically collect solid waste and take to post-collection facilities
Open container enclosures or gates to access cans. As needed, roll 3-4-yard cans on castors into position for dumping
Perform daily pre- and post-trip inspections; complete and submit a vehicle condition report at the end of the shift
Courteously interacts with customers and/or the general public along the route to answer questions or respond to requests; Notify supervisor of issues requiring management action
Clean loose trash off of truck and/or ground around truck and container that spills during dumping process to maintain clean customer site and safety along roads and highways
Maintains and submits a logbook, daily route/productivity sheet, and vehicle condition report (post-trip inspection sheet) as required by law or company policy
Maneuver truck into and out of minimum clearance spaces, using mirrors to back up
Uses a key map and GPS to locate service addresses
Follows safe operating practices, including lock out/ tag out procedures to ensure proper operation of the truck
Monitors operations to detect loose debris, using mirrors or direct sight and/or listening for debris falling onto truck during dumping operation; visually scans customer site before and after dumping
Follow all safety standards, equipment checks and precautions in performance of all duties. Comply with all federal, state/provincial, local and company rules on safety and vehicle operation.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements:

Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Minimum of one (1) year commercial truck driving experience OR CDL school certificate
Must be able to meet relevant criteria for safety sensitive functions according to Company standards
Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of the truck and its components and the basic maintenance Requirements: for safe operation

About the Role:
Our Super Drivers are like a cross between Captain Planet, a human GPS, and Santa. This punctual posse is responsible for the consistent delivery of our delicious snacks and lunches to little eaters across the GTA.

As the face of our brand, you’ll need to have a tidy appearance and respectful manners (could we introduce you to our mothers?).

To be a dedicated Super Driver, flexibility in your schedule is important. Our AM shift starts at 6:00 a.m. (or earlier), and can vary in length from 5-8 hours.

We want to work with people who live to go above and beyond with customer service. Special consideration will be given to those whose friendly, outgoing attitude suits a child care centre environment and to those who have experience with kids.

Some of the things you’ll get paid to do:
Deliveries

Load vans according to delivery manifests; assist fellow drivers in loading process
Follow route and schedule as outlined, ensuring on-time deliveries
Complete individual deliveries following all steps of service and special instructions (when applicable)

Maintaining clean cab and cargo areas on a daily basis
Fleet prep work as assigned
Reporting issues or appearance of warning lights immediately
Checking fluids on a weekly basis
Inspecting functional lights and signals, as well as wear and tear on a daily basis

Delivery Equipment Returns

Cleaning delivery bags and cambro equipment
Storing/organizing delivery equipment so that it is ready to be reused the next day
About You
Minimum 25 years of age (for insurance purposes)
Valid G-Class Ontario Driver’s License with a clean driving record
Successful candidates will be required to submit their information for a background check
Excellent physical condition: able to lift heavy loads (20-50 lbs) up and down stairs
Very reliable
Excellent people skills
Sound judgment
Able to maintain a positive attitude when dealing with obstacles
Interested in healthy eating and living
