You will work working closely with the existing heart failure consultants, specialist nurses and community team in providing general cardiology service, Ambulatory Heart failure services as well as specialist sessions in device implantation.

The job plan is anticipated to contain 10 programmed activities, 8.5 PAs of direct clinical care and 1.5 SPAs per week. We are open to consider alternative job content on a personal basis.
You will be joining the Consultant rota on a 1:8 weekend ward rounds as following consultant of the week model. Currently, there are no on call commitments; however, it is expected that the cardiology team moves towards providing 24/7 cover.
You will contribute to general cardiology services including outpatients’ clinics and inpatient ward work as consultant of the week as well as reviewing outlying patients with cardiac conditions. You will share responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service ad participation on strategic planning.
As a specialist cardiologist, you will facilitate the expansion and delivery of heart failure services.
You will be expected to attend the multidisciplinary team meetings and the clinical governance activity across the directorate.
Teaching and training junior members of staff are essential to your professional activity as well as participating in continuing medical education.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the post of Consultant in Paediatric Cardiology within the Tertiary Paediatric Cardiology Service for South, West and Mid Wales based at the Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff.
The Paediatric Cardiology service based at Children’s Hospital for Wales in Cardiff provides a tertiary medical service for the South Wales region for children who suffer with congenital heart disease. We are a non-surgical (level 2) centre with strong professional links with Bristol Children’s Hospital as our surgical centre. Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is recognised as a teaching centre of excellence in a wide range of clinical services.
You will be able to take advantage of the excellent Consultant contract for Wales. The basic salary range for this post is £91,722 per annum to £119,079 per annum plus a further £26,672 per annum available in Commitment Awards. Consultants in Wales paid on one of the first three points of the substantive Consultant pay scale also receive a Wales recruitment incentive payment.

Department Information
The department comprises of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Consultant Anaesthetists, Pharmacists and Associate practitioners. The team review and prepare patients for both Cardiac and Thoracic elective surgery. The patients are identified from the waiting list and scheduled according to their clinical priority. The Thoracic patients are pre assessed within 2-3 days of date being given whereas cardiac patients are scheduled within 2 weeks. These are multi disciplinary led clinics where team work is enhanced.

Role Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out a full range of outpatient Cardiac Investigations including ECG, Stress Tests, Echocardiograms.
- Rotating between the Outpatient Cardiology and Interventional Cardiac Service within the Cath lab ensure all service needs are met

Person Specification:
- Be a qualified Physiologist (BSc or equivalent)

Primary Role:
Provide exceptional patient care in an environment where quality, respect, caring, and compassion are at the center of all we do. The Cath lab Nurse’s primary role is assisting with catheterizations. Cardiac Cath lab nurses specialize in working with patients undergoing cardiac procedures in a catheterization lab. Procedures include (but are not limited to): Coronary Angiogram, PCI, balloon valvuloplasty, Left and right heart catheterization and pericardiocentesis.
Responsibilities:
- Provides direct nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic adult cardiac catheterization procedures.
- Must take On-Call assignment (arrival at the Hospital & Facility within 20 minutes required).
- Ensure open and effective channels of communication with patients, family/caregivers and all health care team members involved in the pre/intra/post-care of adult cardiac catheterization patients.
- Demonstrate competency in the following: Angiogram, Angioplasty, PCI, coronary stents, balloon valvuloplasty, Left and right heart Cath, pericardiocentesis, TPI, intra-aortic balloon pumps.
- Prepared for emergency situations.
- Examination of the patient pre- and post-catheterization.
- Transport patient to/from pre-post recovery and/or inpatient unit.
- Administer the intravenous and oral medications to patients.
- Manage the patients under procedural sedation.
- Circulating and scrubbing during cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures

- Ensure adequate levels of all supplies are available in all procedural room(s). Stock as needed.
- Recognition and management of cardiac Arrhythmias.
- After the procedure, Cath lab nurses monitor the patients with continuous cardiac monitor, administering medications and updating the patient’s chart.
- During the recovery period, the Cath lab nurse watches for signs of Hematoma, bleeding, and infection.
- Apply nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health, illness, and procedure.

Qualifications / Knowledge Requirements:
- Experience in Cardiology/ Cardiothoracic Unit for more than 5 years.
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required by start date.
- Current certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required by start date.
- Current certification in Pediatric Advance Cardiovascular Life Support (PALS) required by start date.
- Current license to practice nursing in the Island with the Nursing Council.
- Experience providing direct nursing care in cardiovascular and/or OR within last 6 months required.
- Experience in a hospital setting and understanding of hospital operations is preferred.

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Echo-based Physiologist to join our Outpatient Cardiology team as a Senior Cardiac Physiologist. You will be a key member of the multi-disciplinary Cardiology team, liaising with Consultant Cardiologists in the provision of a full range of outpatient non-invasive cardiac investigations. After the relevant training you will also use your skills to support cardiology consultants in the Cath Lab.
This role is ideally suited to an experienced BSE accredited Cardiac Physiologist who is patient focused and is looking to develop their career and expand their knowledge of invasive Cardiac Diagnostic Testing in the Cath Lab.
Your working hours will be Monday – Friday, 8am – 4pm, 9am – 5pm, 10am – 6pm on a rota basis.
Role Responsibilities include:
- Carrying out a full range of outpatient Cardiac Investigations including ECG, Stress Tests, Echocardiograms.
- Rotating between the Outpatient Cardiology and Interventional Cardiac Service within the Cath lab ensure all service needs are met
- Developing and implementing policies and procedures/protocols within the cardio-respiratory department
- Assisting with the day-to-day revenue recapture and cost control process
- Establishing a robust inpatient / outpatient diagnostic service
Person Specification:
- Be a qualified Physiologist (BSc or equivalent)
- Hold post qualification BSE accreditation.
- Have post qualification experience working within Outpatient Cardiology Service.
- Display excellent interpersonal skills, you will easily engage with colleagues and consultants to build effective working relationships.
- Be easily able to build rapport with patients, displaying an enthusiastic and passionate attitude.
- Experience working in a Cath Lab is desirable but not essential.

The Acute Cardiology Nurses at Wrexham Maelor Hospital provide a high quality, comprehensive and innovative nurse led service to patients experiencing acute conditions, mainly Acute Coronary Syndromes, but also patients presenting to the Emergency Department with arrhythmias, breathlessness or collapse. They provide and facilitate timely care and interventions in all acute settings, predominantly the Emergency Department with the aim of preventing avoidable admissions and ensuring patients requiring admission are managed appropriately. The team consists of 2.8 WTE and work very closely with all members of the Cardiology multi-disciplinary team. They are a hospital based service providing inpatient care for patients presenting with an acute Cardiology condition and outpatient care for those attending the Rapid Access Chest Pain Clinic. The team also run the Cardiology referral triage service which provides rapid, clinical triage of over 500 referrals per month from GPs and other clinicians. They provide expert advice and support to other clinical colleagues, particularly the Acute Medical Consultants and Cardiologists and offer education, training and clinical expertise to Primary and Secondary care staff. The successful candidate will lead on the MINAP cardiac audit for the hospital.
