The University Hospital of Northern British Columbia (UHNBC) is seeking an Anesthesiologist to fill a vacancy within the department. The hospital has an accredited level 3 trauma unit and the Intensive Care Unit is an integral part of this. The Department of Anesthesia at UHNBC provides anesthetic services to a wide range of surgical specialties like general surgery including Whipple`s procedure and Esophagectomy, Urology, Orthopaedic, Plastic, ENT, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Ophthalmology, 24 hours Epidural Service and Vascular surgery. The current on call commitment is approximately 1 in 8. The department works on an Alternative Payment arrangement, and we estimate that a conservative base remuneration for a full time Anesthetist would be approximately $500,000. The current expectation for a full time, 1.0 FTE Anesthetist is 1997 hours per annum.
UHNBC is the Regional Hospital for Northern BC serving both the immediate population of Prince George (approximately 100,000) and is a referral center for outlying communities (total population approximately 400,000). It is the main teaching center for medical students in the Northern Medical Program of UBC and provides teaching for UBC Residents in several specialties. The BC Cancer Centre for the North is on the hospital site and includes both radiation and medical oncology services. The ongoing development of UHNBC as a regional center and teaching center makes this an exciting time to join the medical community in Prince George.

The Department of Pediatric Anesthesia at BCCH is seeking Fellowship (or equivalent) trained pediatric anesthesiologists with a passion for furthering the clinical and academic excellence of our group. Your appointment will include all clinical anesthesia responsibilities (except cardiac anesthesia) and participation in the activities of the acute pain service. It is expected that successful applicants will contribute to aspects of our academic mandate: quality improvement, education, research and Faculty development; and be active participants in our Clinical and Research Fellowship Program.
Applicants must have a medical degree and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. Applicants’ anesthesia training must be recognised (or assessed as acceptable) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons in British Columbia. In addition, applicants will have successfully completed subspecialty training in pediatric anesthesia. Applications will be considered from those presently undertaking subspecialty pediatric training (Fellowship or equivalent), and from applicants who have been accepted into such a training program, noting that any position offered to such applicants will be conditional upon successful completion of specialist pediatric training and references from that training program.
Clinical expertise in tertiary/quaternary centre pediatric anesthesia is essential. Furthermore, ideal applicants will also bring one or more of the following:

Sinai Health (SH), University Health Network (UHN) and Women’s College Hospital (WCH) are seeking applicant(s) for a full-time active staff academic anesthesiologist appointment at Mount Sinai Hospital, Toronto General Hospital, Toronto Western Hospital, or Women’s College Hospitals in Toronto. The successful candidate must be eligible for an academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer, Assistant/ Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine, Temerty Faculty of Medicine, at the University of Toronto. The start date will be based on a mutually agreed upon time.
The successful candidate will provide anesthetic care throughout the surgical and obstetric programs including supervision and teaching of students, residents, and fellows. On-call services will be provided in rotation. Participation in formal in-house and University teaching programs, as well as hospital administrative duties will be expected. Academic opportunities for research and teaching are available. Protected time is awarded according to a merit-based system. The incumbent will have major clinical responsibilities and in addition to their own academic activities, will facilitate the research, teaching, and education by others. Mount Sinai (442 beds) is an acute care hospital and home to the largest high-risk obstetric center in Canada. Surgical services include general surgery, gynecology, otolaryngology, urology, oral and maxillofacial surgery, dentistry, orthopedics, and ophthalmology. All surgical programs have significant oncology components. Opportunities for practice in acute and chronic pain are also available.

Women’s College Hospital is an independent ambulatory care hospital in Ontario with a primary focus on women’s health. It is also home to Toronto Academic Pain Medicine Institute (TAPMI), which is a comprehensive, interdisciplinary academic pain program serving as the hub for chronic pain care in Toronto.

The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at Vancouver Acute is searching for a full-time Anesthesiologist to join our team. With over 70 members, we are one of the largest anesthesia departments in Canada and provide all anesthesia care at Vancouver Acute’s two acute care hospitals, Vancouver General Hospital and University of British Columbia Hospital.
Members of the department are involved in all aspects of adult anesthesia sub-specialty care including perioperative medicine, intraoperative anesthesia care, critical care and pain management in an academic and quaternary care setting. Vancouver Acute is British Columbia’s provincial referral centre for a large number of surgical programs including; neurosurgery, cardiac surgery (including major aortic reconstruction), thoracic surgery, spine surgery, transplant surgery (liver, lung, kidney and pancreas), complex urological, gynecological and general oncology surgery, complex joint reconstruction and robotic surgery. We are seeking full time Anesthesiologist physicians to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. This vacancy arises due to planned increases in elective surgical volumes.
ARHCC opened in August 2008 and has 9 Operating Rooms plus 1 OR in the Cancer Agency. Our group includes 12 Anesthesiologists. We cover most surgeries that you would expect of a Regional Hospital: General Surgery, a very busy Obstetrics service (about 2700 births per year), Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Vascular and dental. We do not do Cardiac, Thoracic or Neurosurgery.
We run 6-7 OR’s on weekdays, 5 ORs until 1500, and 1 OR until 1700. We also run 1 out-of-OR position each day for a variety of tasks: Consults, Acute Pain Service, ECT, Cardioversions and Emergency calls. We also provide anesthesia services two days per week to a secondary OR in the Cancer Agency for Brachytherapy (Prostate and Cervix).
Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley approximately 60 minutes from downtown Vancouver.

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.
PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.
As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining an excellent complement of medical and surgical specialists. Excellent radiology availability with on site Computed Tomography (CT) and part time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.
In April 2019 PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower (DKT), a new, state of the art Patient Care Tower. DKT includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, new OR’s,84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. We provide OR services for urology, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, and uncomplicated pediatric cases over 2 years. We have a robust peri-operative consult service and ERACS program for colo-rectal and direct anterior hip replacement. We assist with airway needs in the ICU and Emergency department and provide full pre-op services and out- of -OR consultation for the emergency adult list and labour/delivery. Additionally, there are 2 ORs at the Summerland Health Centre where we provide services including pediatric dental, ENT and ophthalmology services. Candidates with strong pediatric skills would be an asset.
There are opportunities for teaching medical students and residents. Research can be supported if interested. There is a monthly CME program and quarterly Grand Rounds (supported by the Medical Staff Association).

Island Health has opportunities for two locum Cardiac Anaesthesiologists in Victoria, BC. Located in Victoria, the Royal Jubilee Hospital is a 500-bed tertiary care facility and the referral centre for cardiac surgery patients on Vancouver Island. Cardiac cases total approximately 700-750 per year. Our cardiac anaesthesia group are involved in on-pump coronary artery bypass surgeries, complex valve surgery, aortic surgery, laser lead extractions, catheter based structural heart procedures, TAVIs, and TEVARs. We are the regional ECMO centre as part of the provincial ECLS network.
Other surgical services at Royal Jubilee Hospital include general, thoracic, bariatric, ENT, urology, vascular, orthopedic, ophthalmologic, and plastic surgery. It serves as a teaching centre for the University of British Columbia’s medical school and postgraduate medical education and our department is affiliated with both the University of British Columbia and the University of Victoria. Both staff anesthesiologists and residents based in Victoria have won multiple UBC awards.
The Victoria Department of Anesthesiology consists of 50 full time equivalent anesthesia positions covering 2 tertiary sites in the city.
You will function as part of a collegial cardiac anesthesiologist team and your work will involve cardiac and all other surgical specialties offered at this centre. Cardiac anesthesia accounts for about 50% of our practice.
Duties will include
Cardiac Anaesthesia Call for the OR
Separate CVU call line for managing dedicated 24-hour coverage of a 9-bed cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVU) staffed by cardiac anesthesiologists
Providing peri-operative TEE service to all cardiac cases, CVU patients as needed, and occasional out-of-OR patients, including for EP procedures.
Preoperative assessments of cardiac surgery patients
Anesthesia preoperative consultation clinic
Care of acute pain service patients
Teaching of a cardiac fellow, medical students and residents
We are a fellowship training centre affiliated with the University of British Columbia.
The successful applicant must have current experience managing postoperative cardiac surgery patients in the cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVU)

The Penticton Regional Hospital (PRH) is a 158-bed Acute Care facility in the Okanagan Health Service Area and responsible for providing core medical and surgical specialty services to surrounding population of approximately 90,000 people.
PRH offers 24-hour Emergency and Trauma Services, Acute Services, Ambulatory and Out-patient Clinics, and Diagnostic/Paramedical Services.
As a regional facility and secondary referral centre for the South Okanagan and Similkameen Valley, you will be joining an excellent complement of medical and surgical specialists. Excellent radiology availability with on site Computed Tomography (CT) and part time Medical Resonance Imaging (MRI). PRH has a seven-bed Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
PRH also serves as the referral base for hematology/transfusion medicine for the smaller local hospitals in Oliver and Princeton.
In April 2019 PRH opened phase one of the David E. Kampe Tower (DKT), a new, state of the art Patient Care Tower. DKT includes a brand new ambulatory care centre, surgical services center, new OR’s,84 medical/surgical inpatients beds in single patient rooms, a new medical device reprocessing unit and space for the UBC Faculty of Medicine Program. Phase two was completed in December 2021 and included renovations in the current hospital to allow the expansion of the emergency department four times its current size

The Penticton Regional Hospital’s Department of Anesthesia is seeking an engaged team player and confident generalist who is confident in regional anesthesia techniques to join our group of 10 dedicated Anesthesiologists who make an amicable team with 23 surgeons. We provide OR services for urology, ENT, general surgery, orthopedics, OB/GYN, and uncomplicated pediatric cases over 2 years. We have a robust peri-operative consult service and ERACS program for colo-rectal and direct anterior hip replacement. We assist with airway needs in the ICU and Emergency department and provide full pre-op services and out- of -OR consultation for the emergency adult list and labour/delivery. Additionally, there are 2 ORs at the Summerland Health Centre where we provide services including pediatric dental, ENT and ophthalmology services. Candidates with strong pediatric skills would be an asset.
There are opportunities for teaching medical students and residents. Research can be supported if interested. There is a monthly CME program and quarterly Grand Rounds (supported by the Medical Staff Association).
Hours of work: ~ 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. (two late stay shifts per month to 5pm)
On-call: ~ 1 weekend per month (plus 2-3 weekdays)

We are seeking full time Anesthesiologist physicians to join our team at Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre. This vacancy arises due to planned increases in elective surgical volumes.
ARHCC opened in August 2008 and has 9 Operating Rooms plus 1 OR in the Cancer Agency. Our group includes 12 Anesthesiologists. We cover most surgeries that you would expect of a Regional Hospital: General Surgery, a very busy Obstetrics service (about 2700 births per year), Gynecology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, ENT, Vascular and dental. We do not do Cardiac, Thoracic or Neurosurgery.
We run 6-7 OR’s on weekdays, 5 ORs until 1500, and 1 OR until 1700. We also run 1 out-of-OR position each day for a variety of tasks: Consults, Acute Pain Service, ECT, Cardioversions and Emergency calls. We also provide anesthesia services two days per week to a secondary OR in the Cancer Agency for Brachytherapy (Prostate and Cervix).
Abbotsford Regional Hospital & Cancer Centre is located in the beautiful Fraser Valley approximately 60 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
The successful candidate will share an on-call rotation. Payment is an Alternative Payment Plan. The positions are available immediately. The positions are available immediately.

About the Opportunity
The Dalhousie University Department of Anesthesia, Pain Management and Perioperative Medicine is seeking anesthesiologists (multiple positions) to join our clinical/academic department of over 100 members in the greater Halifax area to work within the Central Zone of Nova Scotia Health.
Working within the province’s quaternary and tertiary care centres, the Department provides a full spectrum of specialty anesthesia care to patients in Atlantic Canada as well as nationally and internationally through outreach initiatives, and innovation in airway management. It administers leading edge programs in perioperative medicine, perioperative blood management and pain management. Within Nova Scotia Health, subspecialty anesthesia practice comprises pain management, cardiac anesthesia, neurosurgical anesthesia, thoracic anesthesia and transplantation. Surgical services supported by anesthesia within hospitals include but are not limited to orthopedics, ophthalmology, oral and maxillofacial, cardiac surgery, vascular, ENT, plastic, neuro, thoracic, transplantation, urology and adult trauma.
Successful candidates may be granted a faculty appointment (minimally at the rank of Assistant Professor) at Dalhousie University upon hire and will support the academic mandate of the Department through administrative, education and research activities within the field of anesthesia, pain management and perioperative medicine. There are opportunities for paid protected time for research and education activities that benefit the academic mission of the Department.

Qualifications
Doctorate in Medicine (or suitable equivalent such as Doctor of Osteopathy);
Eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia;
Have certification as an anesthesiologist with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or in exceptional cases, will consider those eligible to write the Royal College exams;
Fellowship training and/or a demonstrated excellence in academic medicine through clinical experience;
Strong interpersonal and communications skills with a focus on patient safety and quality; and
Experience in a complex health sciences centre is a strong asset, as well as research or teaching experience.
Compensation
Compensation depends on FTE assignment, hours worked and on-call schedules. The positions are compensated by APMPM Administration Inc. through the Department’s Clinical Academic Funding Plan (CAFP), a multi-stakeholder agreement that provides block funding to compensate physicians and cover departmental operational costs. The Department’s Practice Plan outlines the ways in which the revenues are distributed by the members.
