We are looking for a Staff Accountant to manage general accounting and financial processes of our company.
This position will help ensure the company’s financial close processes run smoothly. This position will be responsible for various daily accounting tasks, including analyzing expense files, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, and assisting in other key financial transactions, requiring a strong attention to detail.

What you’ll be doing:
Maintain and update accounting records and files
Analyze expense reports
Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities and expenses)
Reconcile bank statements and other key accounts
Reconcile monthly credit card statements
Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
Conduct month-end and year-end closures
Prepare documents for audits
Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
Report to the Controller and work to improve financial processes
What you need to have:
Similar experience as a Staff Accountant or relevant role in accounting
Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel
Knowledge of an accounting information system is a plus, specifically NetSuite or Quickbooks
Attention to detail
Strong organizational and communication skills

About the Position
This position is available in the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services’ AbilityWorks Financial Systems Division. Responsibilities will involve, but are not limited to, the coordinating and tracking all garnishment orders for the Medicaid waiver payroll and the facility payroll. This includes responding to garnishment orders, notifying employees of new orders, setting the deductions up in Navision accounting system, entering purchase invoices to vendors in order to send the money withheld for garnishments to the appropriate vendor for the correct employee(s), releasing garnishments in the accounting system when notified, refunding money withheld in error or after release to correct employees, working with garnishment vendors and employees to resolve issues or disputes, and utilizing analytical abilities to appropriately identify, resolve, and limit the risk of errors. In addition, position will also assist in Medicaid waiver payroll as needed and other duties as assigned.

Payroll General Leger Operations – manage the General Ledger operations of the payroll department providing critical information as it relates to our payroll general ledger postings and budgeted information assuring that we meet all weekly and monthly posting deadlines. Drive successful/accurate month end closing for all related payroll journal entries.
Partner with Peer stakeholders – you will work across the organization with key stakeholders in global mobility to assure correct and accurate information. Supports the Benefits area in calculating and coordinating with outside stakeholders regarding Non-Qualified pension calculations as required.
Foreign Service Employees – responsible for all tracking and posting intercompany charges while assuring that US payroll records are accurate and complete at year end and that all taxes and charges are represented accurately and to the correct country. You will also be responsible for tracking these intercompany charges in the Kellogg portal every month for chargeback to the appropriate country.
Budget – maintain the payroll department budget and has the responsibility for making sure that we are maintaining our zero based budget strategy. The ability to meet multiple deadlines on a daily/weekly basis are critical to the success of this role.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
Perform a variety of accounting assignments within a Business Unit or functional area of responsibility. JOB SCOPE
