OVERVIEW
The Staff Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day operational duties associated with the dispensing of prescription medication as required to meet the needs of a long-term/post-acute care pharmacy. RESPONSIBILITIES
- Verification for completeness and accuracy of all new and refill labels and orders.
- Check for content and accuracy of all medication packaging and labeling including emergency drug kits and IV medications
- Maintain resident database to include appropriate current and past medical history, appropriate clinical and laboratory data, and concurrent medication (including OTC and home remedies)
- Assist in the proper ordering, handling, receiving, documentation, and storage of all controlled substances; assist in maintaining a perpetual inventory for schedule II drugs
- Work with appropriate pharmacy technician in reconciling Controlled Substances perpetual inventory as required by management for compliance with state and federal regulations
- Provide clinical expertise by responding to drug-related questions and concerns initiated by internal staff and external customers
- Document all communication with physicians, nurses, other members of the healthcare team and patients/residents and their family members in the medical record
- Preparation and/or supervision of all sterile IV drug products or solutions
- Provide evening, weekend, and holiday coverage during rotation and as required by management
- Follow all applicable government regulations including HIPAA
- Other duties as assigned; Job duties may vary depending on business needs
- Responsible for the flow of work and appropriate outcomes
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Pharmacist license active and in good standing in the state of practice
- Management experience preferred

- Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evening, weekends, and holidays
- Experience using FrameworkLTC

- Ability to work independently as well as working in a team environment, meets deadlines, establish priorities, and be flexible, work under pressure with multiple tasks. Must have strong organizational, customer service, and time management skills, ability to problem solve.
- This position must exhibit maturity in judgment, will work under the Pharmacy Manager.
